Crown Point, Ind. - The Lewis University softball team ended the 2017 campaign on a positive note as the Flyers swept Drury, 4-1 and 2-1, in a Great Lakes Valley Conference doubleheader at the Sparta Dome on Saturday (Apr. 30).
With the sweep, Lewis improves to 26-25 overall and 14-16 in GLVC action, while the Panthers fall to 19-36 on the campaign and 6-24 in conference play.
GAME ONE
Lewis 4, Drury 1

Lewis sophomore pitcher
Dara Sanders (Crestwood, Ill./Mother McAuley) twirled a complete-game, three-hitter and struck out eight batters in the 4-1 win over Drury.
Eight Lewis players recorded at least one hit with four Flyers chipping in a pair of base knocks. Lewis freshman right fielder
Emily Guske (Loves Park, Ill./Harlem) went 3-for-4 and scored a pair of runs, while junior left fielder
Kaylee Prieto (Chicago, Ill./Marist) went 2-for-4 and scored once.
Lewis senior shortstop
Carly Jaworski (Lemont, Ill./Lemont) and Sanders each went 2-for-4 at the plate and drove in a run.
GAME TWO
Lewis 2, Drury 1
WP - Schweickert (4-5); LP - Bolen (9-17)
Lewis broke a 1-all tie in the bottom of the sixth inning, scoring the go-ahead run on a Drury error, leading the Flyers to the 2-1 win over the Panthers in the season finale.
The Flyers had evened the score up at 1-apiece in the fifth on a RBI single from senior center fielder

Lainie Schweickert (Peru, Ill./St. Bede Academy) went the distance to earn the victory. She allowed one run and eight hits while fanning seven batters.
