Romeoville, Ill. - The Lewis University baseball team ended its 2017 campaign on a positive note, as the Flyers completed the Great Lakes Valley Conference series sweep over McKendree, earning 4-3 and 8-4 wins over the Bearcats at Brennan Field on Saturday (May 6).
Lewis ends the season with a record of 16-34 overall and 10-18 in GLVC action. McKendree finishes the campaign with a mark of 13-34 and a conference record of 2-24.
GAME ONE
Lewis 4, McKendree 3

With the score tied at three, Lewis took advantage of two McKendree errors in the seventh inning and scored the winning run on a Bearcat miscue that would have ended the frame, giving the Flyers the 4-3 walk-off victory.
Lewis designated hitter
Kenny King (Orland Park, Ill./Providence ) went 3-for-3 and drove in a run, while sophomore left fielder
Connor Rutherford (DePere, Wis./DePere) roped a solo home run in the Flyer victory.
Lewis senior reliever
Nick Davito (Crest Hill, Ill./Lockport) picked up the win for the Flyers, allowing three unearned runs and two hits, while striking out one batter in an inning of work.

Trayvon Johnson (Berkeley, Ill. /St. Joseph's) went 2-for-4 with four RBI, including a two-run home run and two-run double, to push the Flyers to the 8-4 win and the series sweep over the Bearcats.
Flyer senior center fielder
Brandon Collins (Tinley Park, Ill./Lincoln Way North) and King each had two hits and scored two runs, while freshman catcher
Anthony Rios (Lemont, Ill. /St. Laurence) went 2-for-4.
Lewis senior hurler
Jake Herron (Joliet, Ill./Joliet West) scattered four runs and eight hits in 8.1 innings of action while fanning five batters to earn the victory for the Flyers.
