Kirksville, Mo. - The Lewis University men's basketball team fell at Truman State 92-80 Saturday (Jan. 6) in a Great Lakes Valley Conference contest at Pershing Arena.
Delaney Blaylock (Wyoming, Mich./Godwin Heights)Â hit the 20-point mark for the third straight game and sixth time overall this year, finishing with 23 points.
Meanwhile,
Cristen Wilson (Cleveland, Ohio/John Hay) tallied his fourth straight double-double and sixth on the season, totaling 16 points and 11 rebounds, shooting 7-for-8 from the floor.
Brandon McCombs (Jacksonville, Ill./Jacksonville) scored 11 points,
Nick Norton (Downers Grove, Ill./Downers Grove North) had nine points and
Adam Pischke (Cary, Ill./Marian Central Catholic)Â added eight points and six assists.
Lewis shot 31-of-62 (50%) from the field, while Truman shot 32-of-51 (62.7%). The Bulldogs outrebounded Lewis 32-28, but Lewis won the turnover battle,forcing 15, while committing 10.
The loss leaves the Flyers 7-8 overall, 2-3 in the GLVC, while Truman moves to 8-5, 3-1 in GLVC.
It was a 26-25 Truman lead with 9:08 left in the first half before the hosts went on a 22-7 run to lead 48-32 at the half.
Lewis got to within five points at 60-55 at the 13 minute mark on a Norton jumper, but that would be as close as it would get the rest of the game.
The Flyers are back at home Thursday (Jan 11) for a 7:30 PM game against Bellarmine.
