ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – The Lewis men's soccer team fell in its season finale to 11th ranked Southern Indiana 3-0 on Wednesday afternoon at Lewis Stadium.
The Flyers had the game's first scoring chance in the 10th minute but
Marty Biskis's (Lemont, Ill./Lemont) shot was saved by Justin Faas.
The Screaming Eagles (13-2-1, 11-1-1 GLVC) got on the board in the 26th minute. Ryan Nevins scored on a shot from 20 yards out off a failed clearance attempt by the Lewis defense.
The Flyers had a chance at the equalizer in the 36th minute but
John Horstman's (Godfrey, Ill./Marquette Catholic) shot missed high.
USI held a 6-2 advantage in shots in the first 45 minutes and 2-1 in shots on goal.
Lewis had a couple of more chances for the equalizer in the first 15 minutes of the second half.
Jesus Ochoa (Chicago, Ill.) missed a shot wide in the 54th minute and
Kristian Havran (Franklin Park, Ill./East Leyden) had his shot saved by Faas in the 61st minute.
The Screaming Eagles added to their lead in the 79th minute when Drew Domalewski knocked home a shot off a rebound. USI added another insurance goal in the 85th minute as Adam Newman scored on a tap-in from Colten Walsh.
The Eagles finished the contest with an 11-4 advantage in shots and 5-2 in shots on goal. The Flyers held a 4-3 edge in corner kicks.
Lewis finishes its season with a record of 4-10-3, 3-9-1 in the GLVC.
