ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – The Lewis Flyers outscored Wisconsin-Parkside 25-11 in the third quarter to erase a halftime deficit on its way to a 75-63 win at Neil Carey Arena on Saturday afternoon. Jessica Kelliher (Waukesha, Wis./Waukesha North) finished with 37 points in the contest and was one shy of her career-high to lead the way.

The Flyers (20-5, 13-2 GLVC) scored the first eight points of the games but the Rangers got hot from the perimeter making three 3's in the quarter and ended the quarter on an 18-9 run to take a one-point advantage after the first 10 minutes.

Lewis regained the lead by scoring six of the first nine points to begin the second quarter but Parkside answered with eight straight points getting back-to-back three's from Asiah Lawson and Hayley Maystead to build its largest lead of the game with 5:12 left in the second stanza.

The Flyers countered with an 11-4 run to retake the lead at 34-33 after a layup from Kelliher but the Rangers scored the final five points of the quarter to head into halftime with a 38-34 lead.

Lewis shot 58 percent (15-for-26) from the field but turned the ball over 13 times in the first 20 minutes. Kelliher had 15 points to lead all scorers while Rachel Hinders (Johnston, Iowa/Johnston) and Tierney Lockett (Richton Park, Ill./Rich South) added six points each.

Parkside made 47 percent (14-for-30) of its attempts and was 7-of-16 from downtown. It held advantages in points off turnovers (14-to-9), second chance points (10-to-5) and bench points (14-to-3). Alisha Murphy led the Rangers with seven points while Maystead, Ali Bettencourt and Georgie Eishold added five each.

The two sides traded buckets for most of the third quarter and the Flyers were still down 47-46 with 3:29 to go in the frame but Chrissi Ekhomu (Bolingbrook, Ill./Joliet Catholic) sparked a 13-2 run with a three-pointer to give Lewis a lead it wouldn't relinquish.

The Flyers took a 10-point lead into the final quarter as Kelliher beat the buzzer with a layup after a long pass from Hinders.

The lead ballooned to as many as 14 points early in the final stanza but Parkside refused to go away cutting Lewis's lead to 67-62 with 2:14 remaining after a three from Bettencourt. The Flyers though were able seal the win outscoring the Rangers 8-1 in the final two minutes of the game.

Lewis finished the game shooting 31-for-54 (57.4 percent) from the field, shot 40 percent from three and was 11-for-16 at the foul line. It outscored Parkside 56-to-14 in points in the paint and 16-to-2 in fast break points. Kelliher matched her career-high with 17 field goals made and was joined in double figures by Hinders with 13 while Lockett finished with nine. Kelliher also pulled down 12 rebounds to record her 10th double-double of the season.

Asiah Lawson led the Rangers with 17 points off the bench while Murphy added 12. Parkside shot 38 percent (22-of-58) from the floor, was 12-for-32 (38 percent) from three and was 7-of-13 at the foul line.

The Flyers head to Springfield, Mo., next Thursday for a showdown against the eighth ranked Drury Panthers beginning at 5:45 p.m.
