ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – Two of the hottest teams in the Great Lakes Valley Conference will square off on Thursday evening when Lewis takes on the fifth ranked Drury Lady Panthers at 5:45 p.m. at the O'Reilly Family Events Center. The Flyers (20-5, 13-2 GLVC) have won 13 of their last 14 contests while the Lady Panthers (22-2, 13-1 GLVC) have won seven straight and 20 of their last 21 overall.
Last Saturday, Lewis picked up its sixth consecutive 20-win season rallying for a 75-63 win against Wisconsin-Parkside.
Jessica Kelliher (Waukesha, Wis./Waukesha North) matched her season-high with 37 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to record her 10
th double-double of the season.
Rachel Hinders (Johnston, Iowa/Johnston) chipped in with 13 points while
Tierney Lockett (Richton Park, Ill./Rich South) added nine points and had a game-high five assists.
The Flyers are ranked second in the GLVC in scoring, trailing only Drury, averaging 73.8 points per game and continue to lead the conference in field goal percentage at 47.5 percent and in assists at 15.9 per contest.
Kelliher continues to lead Division II in scoring with her 25.3 points per game and is fourth in the conference in rebounding at 8.4 per contest.
Gabby Green (Milwaukee, Wis./Pius XI) ranks second in the league with her 4.5 assists per game.
ABOUT DRURY: The Lady Panthers won their seventh straight game with a 72-48 victory at Maryville last Saturday. Alice Heinzler led three players in double figures with 22 points while Hailey Diestelkamp added 13 and Payton Richards finished with 11 off the bench.
Drury leads the GLVC in scoring at nearly 80 points per game and during their winning streak has reached the century mark three times in the last five games.
Heinzler leads the team in scoring at 14.8 per contest and is joined in double figures by Diestelkamp at 13.6 per outing, Heather Harman is contributing 11.9 per game and Lucia Fernandez is adding 10.6 per night. Diestelkamp is the team's leading rebounder averaging 8.5 boards per game.
ABOUT MISSOURI S&T: The Lady Miners enter Thursday's contest against Indianapolis with a record of 8-14, 3-11 GLVC and have dropped three in a row. Last Saturday, S&T led for most of the first half at Missouri-St. Louis but was unable to overcome a rough third quarter in its 76-53 loss to the Tritons. Maddie Raley led the Lady Miners with 20 points while Janie Arand added 15.
Arand leads the team and is ranked eighth in the GLVC in scoring at 15.5 points per game while Raley is dropping in 13.3 per outing. Jordan Kabetske is averaging 9.0 points per game and has dished out a team-high 63 assists.
