Women’s basketball hosts 14th ranked Southern Indiana in home finale

ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – The Lewis University women's basketball hosts the 14th ranked Southern Indiana Screaming Eagles in its home finale this Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. at Neil Carey Arena. The Flyers (21-6, 14-3 GLVC) can move up in the GLVC ratings system with a win over the Screaming Eagles on Saturday.

Saturday's contest is the second meeting between the two clubs with Southern Indiana picking up a 67-56 win in Evansville back on Nov. 30. The Eagles held Lewis to a season-low 28.4 (21-for-74) shooting percentage in the first meeting. Jessica Kelliher (Waukesha, Wis./Waukesha North) and Tierney Lockett (Richton Park, Ill./Rich South) led the Flyers with 16 and 15 points respectively.

Last weekend, Lewis bounced back from a loss at fifth ranked Drury last Thursday with a hard fought 87-80 win at Missouri S&T on Saturday. Kelliher led three Flyers in double figures with 31 points and also pulled down 11 rebounds for her 11th double-double of the season. Rachel Hinders (Johnston, Iowa/Johnston) added 20 points while Dajae Black (Chicago, Ill./Marist) and Gabby Green (Milwaukee, Wis./Pius XI) finished with 12 points each.

Kelliher continues to lead Division II in scoring with her 25.1 points per game after her performance at S&T and became the school's single season scoring leader surpassing Darcee Schmidt with 679 points. Kelliher holds two of the top three spots in school history for single season scoring. Hinders is dropping home nearly 12 points per game while Green is averaging 9.1 points per contest and has dished out a team best 115 assists.
