ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – The Lewis University baseball team dropped a pair of games Sunday (March 25) to Great Lakes Valley Conference foe and No. 10 ranked Indianapolis, 8-7 and 14-2 at Brennan Field. The Flyers fell to 7-14 overall, 1-3 in the GLVC, while Indianapolis improved to 17-4 overall, 3-1 in GLVC.

Game 1 – Indianapolis 8, Lewis 7
Indianapolis opened up with three runs in the first inning, but the Flyers came back with two runs in the bottom of the second.
Trayvon Johnson (Berkeley, Ill./St. Joseph's) led off with a single. After stealing second,
Ryan Schefske (Lombard, Ill./Glenbard East) drove him home with a double.
Troy Hajdukovic (Palatine, Ill./Fremd) then singled Schefske to third and
Neal Tyrell (Minooka, Ill./Minooka) singled home Schefske.

The Flyers took their first lead of the contest in the bottom of the third inning when
Ethan Bloom (Schaumburg, Ill./Hoffman Estates) singled with one out and Johnson walked.
Anthony Cavalieri (Western Springs, Ill./Fenwick) singled to load the bases. After a strikeout, Schefske walked, which scored Bloom. Hajdukovic then came through with his second hit in as many innings, driving home two runs for a 5-3 lead.

Lewis built its lead in the fourth when
Connor Rutherford (DePere, Wis./DePere) walked and Bloom singled, sending Rutherford to third. Johnson drove home Rutherford on a fielder's choice. The Flyers made it 7-3 in the fifth with a two-out rally. Tyrell was hit by a pitch and then Rutherford doubled, scoring Tyrell.

The Greyhounds though rallied in the seventh with five runs to take an 8-7 lead into the bottom of the seventh in the seven-inning game. The Flyers went down in order in the bottom of the seventh.

Bloom, Cavalieri and Hajdukovic all had two hits for the Flyers, while Schefske and Hajdukovic each had two RBI. John Hendry (1-0) picked up the win in a scoreless inning of relief, while
Brady Kostecki (Joliet, Ill./Joliet Catholic) (0-2) had the loss.
George Manikas (Lockport, Ill./Joliet Catholic) went five innings for the Flyers, allowing four hits and three earned runs, striking out six.

Game 2 – Indianapolis 14, Lewis 2
The Greyhounds took the momentum from the first game and came out swinging in the second game, scoring 10 runs in the first three innings and adding three more in the eighth. Lewis scored its first run in the bottom of the third inning as Johnson singled and both Cavalieri and
Austin Tittle (Lemont, Ill./Lemont) walked to load the bases with no outs. The runners then all advanced on a balk, scoring Johnson. The second run came in the seventh inning as
Alex Kiszkowski (Schaumburg, Ill./Schaumburg) doubled and
Anthony Rios (Lemont, Ill./St. Laurence) followed with a single to drive home Kiszkowski.

Myc Witty (1-0) earned the win for Indianapolis, allowing one run and one hit in four innings.
Brad Littleton (Coal City, Ill./) (0-3) suffered the loss for the Flyers.

Lewis is back in action Wednesday (March 28) when it plays host to IU Kokomo at 3 p.m.
