Flyers to face familiar foe in NCAA opener

USI and Lewis to meet for third time in 13 days

ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – Lewis University's women's basketball team will face a familiar foe in its opening round game of the NCAA Tournament on Friday. The Flyers will take on the Southern Indiana Screaming Eagles for the fourth time this season and third in the last two weeks when the two tip-off at 11 a.m. (CST) at Kates Gymnasium in Ashland, Ohio.

Tickets for the regional, which is being hosted by Ashland University are on sale now. Ticket prices per session are $20 reserved, $15 adult general admission and $8 for seniors/students. An all-tournament package also will be available, and the cost is $72 reserved, $52 adult general admission and $28 for seniors/students.

Fans can order tickets at the Ashland University business office in person or over the phone at 419-289-5958, online by clicking the above ticket links or at the gate starting at 11 a.m. (Session No. 1) and 4 p.m. (Session No. 2) on Friday. Those wanting to purchase tickets from the business office will only be able to do so during regular business hours, Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.

Southern Indiana (26-4) won the third round between the two last Saturday 76-68 in the semifinal round of the GLVC Tournament at the Vadalabene Center in Edwardsville, Ill. Kaydie Grooms led all scorers with 27 points in the contest while Jessica Kelliher (Waukesha, Wis./Waukesha North) led Lewis (23-7) with 16 points and had a game-high 14 rebounds.

Kelliher continues to lead the nation in scoring at 24.8 points per game and her 66.4 field goal percentage ranks second in the country. She remains the career scoring leader at 20.9 points per contest amongst active players. Gabby Green (Milwaukee, Wis./Pius XI) has moved up to 15th on the school's single season assist list with 132 and her 245 career assists rank 21st all-time in school history.

This will be the sixth straight and 13th NCAA Tournament appearance in school history for the Flyers. They're 6-12 all-time in the NCAA Tournament with a Midwest Regional championship in 2015.
