ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – A thrilling comeback in the second game of a doubleheader highlighted the afternoon for the Lewis baseball team as it earned a split with No. 25 Bellarmine Sunday (April 22) at Brennan Field on Senior Day. After losing 7-0 in the first game, the Flyers rallied from an 8-0 deficit to win the second game 12-9. The Flyers finish the weekend with a 16-22-1 record overall, 8-11 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference, while the Knights move to 33-12 overall, 15-5 in the GLVC. Next up for the Flyers is their final scheduled home game of the year against St. Francis at 3 p.m. Thursday (April 26).

Game One – Bellarmine 7, Lewis 0
The Knights scored twice in the second, sixth and seventh innings, while keeping the Flyers at bay.
Connor Rutherford (DePere, Wis./DePere) tallied a triple in the contest. Hunter Spencer (5-1) picked up the win for Bellarmine, while
Pete Hamot (Downers Grove, Ill./Downers Grove South) (4-3) took the loss.

Game Two – Lewis 12, Bellarmine 9
An eight-run top of the second inning put the Knights in control early, but the Flyer bats would catch fire. They scored twice in the bottom of the second inning on a RBI groundout from
Sam Cybulski (Clarendon Hills, Ill./Lyons Township) and a base hit by
Ethan Bloom (Schaumburg, Ill./Hoffman Estates). They would then add four more runs in the fourth inning. Cybulski singled home a run and
Neal Tyrell (Minooka, Ill./Minooka) walked with the bases loaded. Rutherford then drove home two runs with a single to make it 8-6.

Lewis took its first lead in the bottom of the sixth as it plated four more runs. A Tyrell triple scored two runs and
Trayvon Johnson (Berkeley, Ill./St. Joseph's) doubled home a run to give the Flyers the lead.
Anthony Cavalieri (Western Springs, Ill./Fenwick) singled home another run to make it 10-8. Bellarmine got a run back in the seventh, but Lewis added two more runs in the eighth.
Brandon Post (Elk Grove Village, Ill./Elk Grove) singled home Cavalieri and
Kyle Kane (Westchester, Ill./Nazareth) singled in Post.
Jake Lotz (Palos Hills, Ill./St. Laurence) and
Dalton Hottle (Monmouth, Ill./Monmouth-Roseville) combined to close out the game in the ninth inning, with Hottle picking up his first save.

The Flyers belted out 15 hits in the contest, led by three from Cavalieri. Tyrell (3 RBI), Post and Bloom all had two hits.
Brady Kostecki (Joliet, Ill./Joliet Catholic) (1-4) earned the win, pitching three innings in relief, allowing three hits and one earned run, striking out two batters. Anthony Etherington (4-1) took the loss for the Knights.
