GREENWOOD, Ind. – The No. 45 Lewis University men's tennis team, the No. 4 seed in the Midwest Region, fell to No. 42 Wayne State, the No. 5 seed in the Midwest Region, 5-3 Monday (April 30) in a regional quarterfinal match at Center Grove High School.

The Flyers finish the season 12-11, while Wayne State moves to 15-11 and advances to face top seed Indianapolis Tuesday.

The No. 1 doubles team of
Alan Braschinsky (Tallinn, Estonia/Milna Harma) and
Oskar Lusti (Tallinn, Estonia), ranked No. 13 in the nation by the ITA, were victorious over Mats Westkamp and Niklas Karcz 8-3.
Anton Levitin (Buffalo Grove, Ill./Buffalo Grove) and
Andre Norasith (Elgin, Ill./South Elgin) fell 8-4 at No. 2 doubles to Taylor Vane and Griffin Mertz, while
Brendan Peterson (Elmhurst, Ill./York) and
Chandler Stimpert (Graceland, Ill./Morton) lost 8-5 at No. 3 doubles to Derek Sammons and Harvey Reed.

In singles the Flyers got a pair of wins from Norasith and Stimpert. Norasith defeated Vane 6-4, 7-5 at No. 3, while Stimpert took down Sammons 3-6, 6-0, 6-4 at No. 6. No. 42 Braschinsky fell 6-3, 6-2 at No. 1 to No. 51 Westkamp, Peterson lost 6-4, 6-4 to Mertz at No. 4 and Levitin lost 6-0, 3-6, 6-2 to Reed at No. 5. Lusti split sets with Karcz 4-6, 6-3 at No. 2 but the match did not finish with the outcome decided.
