Flyers Head On The Road For Two Matches

ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – Lewis' women's soccer team heads back out on the road for a pair of matches this weekend against McKendree and Southern Indiana. The Flyers and Bearcats meet on Friday in Lebanon, Ill., at 5 p.m. and then on Sunday Lewis heads to Evansville, Ind., to take on the Screaming Eagles at noon.

Last Time Out: The Flyers concluded its recent four game homestand on Sunday rallying for a 1-1 double overtime draw against Bellarmine. The Knights took the early lead on a goal in the 21st minute. Lewis came back to level the match 15 minutes into the second half when Kailey Parnello (Rockford, Ill./Boylan Central Catholic) tapped home a cross from Cali Havelka-Vanderplow (Hinsdale, Ill./Hinsdale South) for her team leading sixth goal of the season. Parnello nearly won the game with less than 10 minutes to play but her shot hit off the crossbar and went out of play.

Statistical Rankings: Parnello continues to lead the GLVC in shots (50), shots per game (4.17), points (16) and is tied for the league in goals with six. She has tallied seven points in her last four games with three goals and an assist.

About McKendree: The Bearcats enter Friday's contest with a mark of 9-2-1 overall, 7-1-1 in the GLVC after splitting their road trip last weekend. The 'Cats lost a 1-0 decision at Rockhurst last Friday snapping their unbeaten streak at eight. They bounced back on Sunday with a 1-0 win at William Jewell. McKendree currently sits in second place in the conference standings.

About Southern Indiana: The Screaming Eagles kick-off their weekend hosting Illinois Springfield on Friday evening. USI is 8-3 overall, 6-3 in the GLVC after having its five-game winning streak snapped on Sunday in a 2-0 loss at Rockhurst. The Screagles are 5-1 in games decided by a goal this season.

Series Stuff: McKendree leads the all-time series with the Flyers 6-2 and has won three straight. Friday's contest marks the sixth meeting all-time in Lebanon with the Bearcats winning four of the first five meetings.

Southern Indiana holds a 10-4-2 advantage in the series against the Flyers dating back to 2003. Last season the two sides met in Romeoville for the final game of the regular season with USI scoring in the final seconds to take a 2-1 win in double overtime. Lewis is 2-6-2 in the last 10 meetings against the Screaming Eagles.

Up Next: Lewis heads out for its final two road games of the regular season traveling to Kansas City to take on Rockhurst next Friday at 5 p.m. followed by a trip to Liberty on Sunday to take on William Jewell at noon.
