No. 8 Lewis Women’s Volleyball Begins Four Game Roadtrip This Weekend

ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – The eighth ranked Lewis women's volleyball team begins a four game roadtrip this weekend traveling to Southern Indiana and McKendree. The Flyers and Screaming Eagles will meet on Friday at 7 p.m., and then Lewis will head to Lebanon, Ill., to take on McKendree on Saturday at 3 p.m.

Last Time Out – The Flyers extended their winning streak to five with back-to-back four set wins at home last weekend. They opened the weekend with a four-set win over No. 25 Missouri-St. Louis last Friday and then defeated Lindenwood in four sets on Saturday afternoon.

Moving On Up – Lewis moved up one spot to eighth in this week's AVCA Division II Top 25 Coaches Poll. It is one of six schools from the Midwest Region ranked in this week's Top 25. Hillsdale is ranked 13th, Rockhurst checks in at 19th, Ferris State and Michigan Tech are 20th and 21st respectively and UMSL is still at No. 25. Only the Central Region has more teams ranked in this week's poll with 12 in the Top 25.

1,000 For Alex – Alexandra Preuss (Elmhurst, Ill./York) recorded her 1,000th career kill against Hillsdale at the Midwest Region Crossover on Oct. 19 and then last weekend she recorded her 1,000th career dig in the match against Lindenwood.

About Southern Indiana – The Screaming Eagles enter Friday's contest with a record of 11-13 overall and are 3-6 in the GLVC after dropping a pair of road contests last weekend. USI lost a five-set match at Indianapolis last Friday and then was swept at Bellarmine on Saturday afternoon.

About McKendree – The Bearcats enter Friday's contest against Illinois Springfield with a mark of 11-12, 4-5 GLVC after splitting its GLVC road matches last weekend. The Bearcats opened the weekend with a five-set win over Bellarmine and then were swept at Indianapolis on Saturday.

Series Stuff – Lewis leads the all-time series against Southern Indiana 36-11 and has won the last seven in a row. The Flyers have won eight of the first 10 meetings against McKendree.

Up Next – Lewis plays its final two road contests of the regular season next weekend as it travels to Southwest Baptist and Drury.
