ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – Lewis' men's basketball welcomes Wayne State to Neil Carey Arena for its 2019-20 home opener this Saturday afternoon at 4 p.m. The Flyers are in search of their first win while the Warriors enter Saturday's contest with a record of 1-1.
LAST TIME OUT – Lewis dropped its second game of the season falling to Michigan Tech 63-54 this past Sunday in Lebanon, Ill. The Flyers led at halftime but struggled to score in the second half as they were held to just 23 percent shooting from the floor and only one three after making six treys in the first half.
LEWIS – WAYNE STATE – THE SERIES – Saturday's contest marks the 10th meeting all-time between Lewis and Wayne State with the Flyers winning six of the first nine meetings including the last two. Lewis won last year's meeting 74-72 in Detroit.
SCOUTING WAYNE STATE – The Warriors dropped their season opener at home last Friday to Ohio Dominican 87-86 in double overtime. Karim Murray led three Wayne State players in double figures with 25 points while Brailen Neely added 23 and Antonio Marshall finished with 12 points. The Warriors bounced back on Sunday defeating Lake Erie 69-64 in Painesville, Ohio. Neely led all scorers with 23 points while James Gordon IV added 18 and Marshall dropped in 14.
UP NEXT – Lewis begins a two-game roadtrip next weekend beginning with a trip to Michigan to take on Ferris State next Saturday at 2 p.m. (CST) and then it'll head to Findlay, Ohio to take on Findlay two days later at 6 p.m. (CST).
