Lewis Women’s Basketball Continues Five Game Roadtrip

ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – Lewis' women's basketball team continues its five game roadtrip with a trip to Ohio this week. The Flyers will take on seventh ranked Ashland on Thursday at 4:30 p.m. (CST) and then will travel to Wilberforce to take on Central State on Saturday at 4:30 p.m. (CST).

Last Time Out – The Flyers fell to 2-2 on the season with a 72-57 loss at third ranked Grand Valley State on Sunday afternoon. Rachel Hinders (Johnston, Iowa/Johnston) led Lewis with 17 points and nine rebounds while Kaitlyn Williams (Homer Glen, Ill./Joliet Catholic) finished with 11 points. Dajae Black (Chicago, Ill./Marist) and Reilly Olmstead (Brownsburg, Ind./Brownsburg) added nine points each.

Lewis – Ashland – The Series – Thursday's contest marks the 10th meeting all-time between Lewis and Ashland with the Flyers holding a 5-4 advantage. This is the first meeting between the two since Lewis defeated the Eagles 83-76 to win the 2015 Midwest Regional Championship at Michigan Tech. The two schools met eight times when Ashland was a member of the GLVC with each side going 3-1 on their respective home courts.

About Ashland – The Eagles enter Thursday's contest with a record of 3-0 after defeating Findlay 108-59 in their home opener last Thursday. Jodi Johnson finished with a game-high 24 points on 9-of-10 shooting from the floor and also had six assists. Sara Loomis added 20 points and had 10 rebounds while Hallie Heidemann and Annie Roshak added 16 and 15 points off the bench respectively. Ashland moved up one spot to seven in this week's WBCA Top 25 Coaches Poll.

Lewis – Central State – The Series – Saturday's contest will be the second all-time meeting between Lewis and Central State. The Flyers won the first meeting last season in Romeoville 101-91 behind 38 points from Jessica Kelliher (Waukesha, Wis./Waukesha North) while Rachel Hinders (Johnston, Iowa/Johnston) added 13 points and Black added 10 points off the bench.

About Central State – The Marauders enter Tuesday night's contest against Cal (Pa.) with a record of 2-2 and have won two of their last three contests. They defeated Bellarmine 68-60 on Saturday led by Brooke Spaulding with 24 points. Bri'elle Johnson added 12 points and Sandra Guillford finished with 10 points.

Up Next – Lewis concludes its five game roadtrip with a trip back to Michigan to take on Ferris State on Sunday (Dec. 1) at 12 p.m. (CST).
