ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – Lewis' men's basketball seeks its fourth straight win as it takes on crosstown rival St. Francis on Thursday evening at the Pat Sullivan Center. The Flyers enter Thursday's contest with a record of 3-3 while the Fighting Saints are 4-4.
Last Time Out – Lewis opened GLVC play with a 71-64 win over Illinois Springfield last Tuesday at Neil Carey Arena.
Adam Pischke (Cary, Ill./Marian Central Catholic) finished with a game-high 19 points to lead three Flyers in double figures.
Austin Boucher (Markle, Ind./Fort Wayne North Side) and
Anthony D'Avanzo (Harwood Heights, Ill./Notre Dame) added 10 points apiece. Lewis led by as many as 20 points on two separate occasions in the opening half.
About St. Francis – The Fighting Saints dropped their second straight contest in a 67-65 loss to Judson last Saturday. Jorden Thornton led three USF players in double figures with 15 points while Mitch Kwasigroch added 13 and Cole Micek dropped in 11.
Series Stuff – The Flyers lead the all-time series with St. Francis 24-5 and have won 15 of the last 16 meetings. Last season, Lewis defeated the Fighting Saints 90-59 at the Sullivan Center. The Flyers shot 59 percent from the field and had four players reach double figures in scoring led by
Kendale McCullum (Elgin, Ill./Elgin Larkin) with 17 points.
American Cancer Society – St. Francis will be hosting a fundraiser featuring a Christmas tree for Thursday's doubleheader with the proceeds being donated to the American Cancer Society. Family, friends and supporters can purchase a blank ornament and write the name of an individual who has passed away or is currently fighting cancer.
