ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – Lewis' men's basketball team wraps up its pre-Christmas schedule this week hosting Hillsdale on Tuesday at 7 p.m. and Lake Superior State on Saturday at 3 p.m. in its final home games of the 2019 calendar year.
Last Time Out – The Flyers picked up their fourth straight win with an 86-72 victory at St. Francis last Thursday.
Anthony D'Avanzo (Harwood Heights, Ill./Notre Dame) led three players in double figures with a career-high 25 points while
Adam Pischke (Cary, Ill./Marian Central Catholic) and
Dre Bell (Detroit, Mich./River Rouge) added 15 and 13 points respectively. Lewis shot over 50 percent from the floor and the three-point line in the victory.
Hot Shooting – During their four game winning streak the Flyers are averaging over 80 points per contest and are shooting 51 percent (116-for-228) from the field and 50 percent (51-of-102) from beyond the arc. D'Avanzo is averaging 20.3 ppg in those contests while Pischke is dropping in 15.5 points per outing and Bell is averaging nearly 14 points per contest. D'Avanzo is averaging seven rebounds per game in those outings and Pischke is averaging over six assists per game in that span.
About Hillsdale – The Chargers (6-4) won their third straight contest on Saturday defeating Findlay 77-65. Patrick Cartier led four players in double figures with 24 points while Davis Larson added 17, Connor Hill dropped home 14 and Dylan Lowry finished with 10.
Series Stuff – Tuesday's contest marks the 14th meeting all-time between Lewis and Hillsdale with the Flyers holding a 7-6 advantage in the series. The Chargers won the last meeting between the two schools picking up a 71-58 victory at Hillsdale two years ago. Lewis is 5-2 all-time against the Chargers in Neil Carey Arena.
About Lake Superior State – The Lakers are 5-4 on the season heading into Tuesday night's game against Indianapolis. LSSU had its four game winning streak snapped this past Saturday when it fell to 11th ranked Ferris State 97-86. Ke'Montrece Collins led four Lakers in double figures with 23 points in the contest. Ashton Sherrell added 14 points, Nigel Colvin had 13 points off the bench and C.J. Robinson finished with 10 points.
Series Stuff – Saturday afternoon's contest marks the fifth all-time meeting between the Flyers and Lakers with Lewis having won the first four contests. Saturday's contest marks the first time in over a decade the two teams have met. In the last meeting, Lewis prevailed 77-73 at Sault Ste. Marie, Mich., on Nov. 15, 2008.
