Lewis Women’s Hoops Closes Out First Schedule With Trip To Parkside

ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – Lewis' women's basketball team wraps up its first half schedule with a trip up north to take on former GLVC rival Parkside on Wednesday (Dec. 18) at 5:30 p.m. at DeSimone Gymnasium.

Last Time Out – The Flyers defeated crosstown rival St. Francis 75-54 in an exhibition contest last Thursday at the Sullivan Center. Rachel Hinders (Johnston, Iowa/Johnston) led the way with 17 points while Kaitlyn Williams (Homer Glen, Ill./Joliet Catholic) added 13 points, Grace Hilber (Sun Prairie, Wis./Sun Prairie) contributed nine points and Dajae Black (Chicago, Ill./Marist) finished with eight points. Lewis shot 50 percent from the floor in the contest and 41.7 percent from beyond the arc.

Three-Point Shooting – The Flyers are 4-0 this season when making at least 30 percent of their three-point attempts but are 0-4 when failing to reach that mark. Lewis shot a season-high 52 percent from three and made a season-high 13 three's in the win over Northern Michigan on Nov. 10.

Defense – The Flyers are 4-0 this season when holding opponents to less than 70 points. They allowed a season low 41 points to Northern Michigan on Nov. 10.

About Parkside – The Rangers enter Wednesday's contest with a record of 3-6 on the season. They snapped a five-game losing streak with a 101-87 win over Davenport on Dec. 7. Parkside is averaging 76 points per game but are allowing 84.4 points per contest. Alyssa Nelson and Taylor Stephen lead the Rangers in scoring with 14.1 and 12.8 points per outing respectively.

Series Stuff – Wednesday's contest marks the 69th meeting all-time between the Flyers and Rangers with Lewis holding a 46-22 lead in the series. The Flyers have won 10 straight in the series including the last four at DeSimone Gym. Lewis is 17-13 all-time in games played at Parkside.

Up Next – The Flyers will be off until Jan. 2 when they travel to Indianapolis to take on the Greyhounds at 4:30 p.m. (CST).
