ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – Lewis' baseball team completed its three game sweep of McKendree with a 12-2 win in seven innings on Monday at Brennan Field. The Flyers improve to 12-14 overall, 7-8 in the GLVC and have won four of their last five while the Bearcats fall to 9-17, 6-9 GLVC.
Connor Rutherford (DePere, Wis./DePere) and 
Ryan Schefske (Lombard, Ill./Glenbard East) put Lewis on the board in the first with back-to-back home runs with two outs in the inning. Rutherford hit his to right center and Schefske's blast went to straight away center.
The Flyers added single tallies in the second and third innings to extend their lead to 4-0. McKendree got a run back in the fourth. Adam Cox led off the inning with a pinch-hit double to right center and came into score later in the inning on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Anthony Aydt.
Lewis broke it open plating three runs in the bottom of the fourth. 
Brandon Post (Elk Grove Village, Ill./Elk Grove) singled home 
Michael O'Brien (Joliet, Ill./Joliet Catholic) and later in the inning 
Dalton Crowder (Romeoville, Ill./Plainfield East) drove in two runs with a single to right.
The Bearcats got a run back in the sixth on a wild pitch with the bases loaded.
Schefske gave the Flyers a 10-2 lead in the bottom of the sixth, hitting his second home run of the day to left. His three-run blast was his fourth in three games.
Lewis wrapped up the game in the seventh loading the bases with no one out. Post drove in 
Scott Garrow (LaGrange, Ill./Lyons Township) with the first run of the inning and then Rutherford walked with the bases loaded to score 
Austin Tittle (Lemont, Ill./Lemont) to end the game.
The Flyers had eight hits in the contest led by Schefske and 
Matt McCauley (Oakville, Mo./St. John Vianney) with two apiece. Post, Rutherford, Crowder and 
Anthony Cavalieri (Western Springs, Ill./Fenwick) had a hit apiece. Schefske drove in four runs while Post and Rutherford had two RBI apiece.
Brad Littleton (Coal City, Ill./) went the first 5.2 innings allowing two runs on five hits with eight strikeouts and four walks to improve to 2-2 on the season. 
Ryan Ward (Hanover Park, Ill./Hoffman Estates) went the final 1.1 innings retiring all four hitters he faced.
Lewis continues its homestand on Wednesday hosting Illinois Springfield in a double header beginning at 12 p.m.
