Balanced Scoring Attack Lifts Flyers To 71-62 Victory Over Lindenwood

ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – Lewis University's men's basketball team got scoring from eight different players in its 71-62 victory over Lindenwood on Thursday evening at Neil Carey Arena. The Flyers improve to 10-7, 5-4 in GLVC play while the Lions fall to 8-9, 2-7 GLVC.

The first half was a back-and-forth affair featuring four ties and seven lead changes. Lewis got out to an early four-point lead but Lindenwood used a 9-2 run over a three-minute span to build its largest lead of the night at 26-21 on a three-pointer from Cameron Scales.

The Flyers countered closing the half on a 12-3 run over the final 3:24 highlighted by Anthony D'Avanzo's (Harwood Heights, Ill./Notre Dame) three-pointer from half court that beat the buzzer.

The two sides continued to go back-and-forth early in the second half before Lewis took control with a 20-6 run that lasted over 6:30 minutes. The Flyers extended its lead from eight to 22 points during that stretch and were able to hold on down the stretch.

Lewis wouldn't score again in the final six minutes as Lindenwood scored the final 13 points of the contest.

D'Avanzo led the Flyers with 23 points and had a game-high 11 rebounds. Dre Bell (Detroit, Mich./River Rouge) added 13 points and Adam Pischke (Cary, Ill./Marian Central Catholic) chipped in with 11 points. Lewis shot over 50 percent (28-for-55) from the floor, was 8-of-18 from three and shot 88 percent at the foul line.

Luka Radosevic tied D'Avanzo for game-high in points with 23 while TJ Crockett dropped in 12 and Kamau Kinder finished with 11 points. The Lions shot under 40 percent (22-for-58) from the field, was 8-of-25 from beyond the arc and shot 77 percent at the foul line.

The Flyers continue their four-game homestand on Saturday hosting No. 18 Missouri-St. Louis at 3 p.m. Saturday's contest will be Lewis Athletic Alumni Day and the second class of the Lewis Academy of Coaches will be honored at halftime of the men's game.
