Flyers Host Hawks And Cardinals This Weekend

ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – Lewis University's women's basketball team returns home this weekend as it welcomes Rockhurst and William Jewell to Neil Carey Arena. The Flyers (6-5, 3-0 GLVC) take on the Hawks (6-4, 1-2 GLVC) on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. and then conclude the homestand hosting the Cardinals (5-6, 1-2 GLVC) on Saturday at 1 p.m.

Last Time Out – Lewis held off a late rally from Bellarmine to pick up a 78-76 win in Louisville for its second straight win last Saturday. Rachel Hinders (Johnston, Iowa/Johnston) led the Flyers with 28 points and nine rebounds in the contest. Lewis shot over 50 percent from the field in the contest.

Home Sweet Home – The Flyers are 64-5 at Neil Carey Arena since the start of the 2014-15 season and have had two perfect seasons at home (2015-16, 2018-19). In the Samantha Quigley Smith era, Lewis has won 26 of 28 contests.

Scouting Rockhurst – The Hawks had their three game winning streak snapped in a 91-70 home loss to Truman State last Saturday. Paige Pendley and Madeline Ronshausen led Rockhurst with 13 and 12 points respectively. Ronshausen leads the team in scoring with 14.7 points per game while Meghan Urbanski and Daly Sullivan are contributing 10.7 and 10.3 points per outing respectively.

The Hawks are averaging 7.5 made three-pointers per game and are shooting over 34 percent beyond the arc.

Series vs. Hawks – Thursday's contest marks the 14th meeting all-time between Lewis and Rockhurst with the Flyers having won 12 of the first 13 meetings. Last season, Lewis defeated the Hawks 83-59 in Romeoville. Thursday's meeting is the eighth all-time at Neil Carey Arena.

Scouting William Jewell – The Cardinals dropped their third straight contest with a 59-47 home loss to Quincy last Saturday. Kiara Bradley led WJC with 16 pints while Ainsley Tolson added 10 points off the bench.
Bradley leads the Cardinals in scoring and rebounding with 16.6 points and 7.4 rebounds per contest. Tolson is tops on the team in assists with 26 on the season.

Series vs. William Jewell – Saturday's contest is the ninth meeting all-time between Lewis and William Jewell with the Flyers having won the first eight contests. The two sides met twice a season ago with Lewis winning the regular season match-up 82-74 at Neil Carey Arena and the postseason match-up 68-57 in Edwardsville, Ill., at the GLVC Tournament.

Up Next – The Flyers begin a three-game road trip next Thursday with a trip to Quincy to take on the Hawks at 5:30 p.m. The road trip continues next Saturday at Truman State at 1 p.m. and concludes the following Monday with a 5:30 p.m. contest at Illinois Springfield.
