ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – Lewis University's men's basketball team picked up its second straight win defeating the University of Indianapolis 77-64 on Tuesday (Dec. 15) evening at Nicoson Hall in Indianapolis, Ind. The Flyers improve to 2-1, 2-1 GLVC while the Greyhounds fall to 0-3, 0-3 GLVC.

Trevian Bell (Joliet, Ill./Joliet West) led four Lewis players in double figures in scoring with 19 points and 13 rebounds while Dre Bell (Detroit, Mich./River Rouge) finished with 17 points on 7-of-9 shooting and was 3-for-4 from beyond the arc. Atakan Sahinkaya (Istanbul, Turkey/Perkiomen School) added 11 points and Artese Stapleton (Chicago, Ill./Kenwood) chipped in with 10 points.

The two sides went back-and-forth over the first six-plus minutes of the contest before the Flyers seized control with a 9-0 run. Vlado Zrnic (Greendale, Wis./Greendale) had four points in that run while Bruno Williams (Milwaukee, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) added three and D. Bell had two.

The Greyhounds tied the game at 28-all thanks to a 13-4 run of their own after a pair of free throws by Dravon Clayborn with 4:43 remaining in the half.

Lewis responded with a 10-0 run over the next two minutes getting five points from Sahinkaya in the run to regain the lead.

However, UIndy scored the final six points of the half to cut the Flyer lead to four at the half.

Lewis extended its lead with back-to-back buckets to open the second half, but the Greyhounds answered with a 5-0 run of their own to cut the lead to 42-39 with 16:50 remaining in the contest.

That would be the closest they got the rest of the way as the Flyers went on a 15-0 run over the next 3:30 to build its largest lead of the night at 57-39 on a three-pointer from T. Bell with 11:37 to go. T. Bell, D. Bell and Sahinkaya accounted for 13 of the 15 points in the run.

UIndy made one final push at it cutting Lewis' lead to six with less than six minutes to play, but the Flyers held them off finishing the game on a 16-9 run to pull away for the victory.

Lewis shot 49.2 percent (29-for-59) from the floor, was 10-of-16 (62.5 percent) from the three-point line and outrebounded the Greyhounds 48-30 in the contest. The Flyers dominated in the paint outscoring UIndy 32-18.

Lewis is back at home this weekend hosting McKendree on Friday at 5:15 p.m. The Flyers and Bearcats will play again on Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m.
