ROSEMONT, Ill. – Lewis' softball team defeated Findlay 6-3 on Saturday at The Dome at the Parkway Bank Sports Complex in Rosemont, Ill. The Flyers improve to 4-3 on the season while the Oilers drop to 2-3.
Findlay took the early lead scoring an unearned run on a bases loaded walk with two outs in the second.
Lewis tied the score in its half of the third on a solo home run to left center off the bat of
Cierra Taylor (Tinley Park, Ill./Andrew) to lead off the inning.
The Flyers broke the tie in the fourth scoring four times in the inning after the first two were retired.
Olivia Magaldi (Mishawka, Ind./Penn) started the rally with a single and Taylor followed with a walk.
Sara Serena (Kankakee, Ill./Kankakee) fouled off several tough pitches in a 12-pitch at-bat before doubling to left center to drive in Magaldi and Taylor.

Kristin Kavalauskas (Oak Forest, Ill./Tinley Park) hit a two-run home run to left field to extend the lead to 5-1.
The Oilers loaded the bases in the fifth scoring two runs to cut Lewis' lead in half to 5-3.
The Flyers got an insurance run in the fifth as
Meghan Bontrager (Milford, Ind./Northridge) doubled home
Carrie Anderson (Roscoe, Ill./Hononegah Community) with the sixth run of the contest. It was Bontrager's first collegiate hit and RBI.
Findlay got their lead-off hitter in the seventh, but
Katie David (Mapleton, Ill./Illini Bluffs) got two strikeouts and a pop up to seal the win.
Lewis outhit the Oilers 9-5 and were led by Taylor and Kavalauskas with two hits apiece. Serena and Kavalauskas drove in two runs apiece.
Anna Gustafson (Elkhart, Ind./Penn) got the start in the circle and pitched the first 1.2 allowing an unearned run on one hit with two strikeouts and two walks. David threw the final 5.1 innings to pick up the victory. She allowed two runs on four hits while striking out seven and walking three.
The Flyers are back in action on Sunday taking on Purdue Northwest at 8 a.m. and Wayne State at 12 p.m. Both games will be played at The Dome at the Parkway Bank Sports Complex.
