WINGATE, N.C. – Lewis' women's lacrosse team dropped a 17-8 decision at Wingate on Tuesday afternoon in Wingate, N.C.
Paige Bracey (Apex, N.C./Apex) and
Alyssa Davidson (Geneva, Ill./Geneva) scored twice for the Flyers (2-6) to pace the attack.
The Bulldogs (3-5) scored five goals in the first 11 minutes of the contest to take the early lead.
Paige Bracey (Apex, N.C./Apex) put Lewis on the board scoring on a free position shot for her seventh goal of the seventh.
Wingate scored 0:23 later to regain its five-goal lead but the Flyers got goals from Bracey and Davidson 1:15 apart to cut the lead to 6-3.
The Bulldogs extended their lead to eight with five goals in the span of eight minutes to take its largest lead of the half.
Lindsey Traub (Indianapolis, IN/Bishop Chatard High School) made it 11-4 with her fifth goal of the season with 1:02 remaining in the stanza.
The Flyers scored first to begin the second half on Davidson's second of the game, but Wingate scored twice to regain its eight-goal advantage.
Carlie Serritella (Chicago, Ill./Resurrection) scored her eighth goal of the season almost halfway through the second half.
The Bulldogs got back-to-back goals from Casey Roux and Annie Plotts 0:35 apart to take its largest lead of the game at 15-6.
Alyson Jines (Temecula, CA/Temecula Valley High School) and
Kate Quinlan (Butler, Pa./Butler Area) would tack on goals in the final 10 minutes of play.
Brigid Fornek (Lawrenceville, Ga./Grayson) picked up six ground balls and made 10 saves in goal.
Jamie Rieger (Park Ridge, Ill./Maine South) won four draw controls and Serritella won three draw controls.
The Flyers are back in action on Thursday taking on Barton at 5 p.m. (CDT) in Barton, N.C.
