ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – Lewis University's 14th ranked women's volleyball team extended its win streak to seven with a sweep of Lindenwood on Saturday afternoon at Neil Carey Arena. The Flyers improve to 12-3, 7-0 GLVC while the Lions drop to 8-5, 3-2 GLVC.
Lewis led from wire-to-wire in the opening set as it scored the first three points and seven of the first nine to begin the match. Lindenwood got as close as four at 10-6 but that would be the closest it got as the Flyers pushed its lead to as many as eight points at 17-9 on a kill from 
Megan Schlechte (Strasburg, Ill./Stewardson-Strasburg). Lewis would go onto win the opening set 25-18.
The Flyers hit .438 in the opening frame recording 18 kills against four errors in 32 chances. Schlechte led the way with five kills while 
Bella Ray (Plainfield, Ill./Joliet Catholic) and 
Ava Venema (Westmont, Ill./Timothy Christian) added four kills apiece.
Lewis went on a 10-5 run midway through set two to extend its lead from one point to six points after Venema and 
Lauren Stenman (Maplewood, Minn./North St. Paul) teamed up to block Amber Schade. The Flyers went onto close out the set scoring six of the final eight points to win 25-15. Schlechte, Venema and 
Natalie Stefanski (Plainfield, Ill./Joliet West) combined for 12 of Lewis' 15 kills in the middle stanza.
The final set was tight early and was tied at eight when the Flyers seized control going on a 13-3 run behind three kills from Stefanski and 
Amanda Greening (Metamora, Ill./Metamora). The Lions wouldn't get closer than nine the rest of the match as Lewis closed out the match to win 25-13.
The Flyers hit .250 in the final stanza with 15 kills against four errors in 44 swings.
Lewis finished the match hitting .343 recording 48 kills against 11 errors in 108 chances. Venema finished with a match-high 12 kills while Stefanski added 10 kills and Schlechte had nine kills. Stenman handed out 39 assists and 
Jamie Poppen (Ballwin, Mo./Parkway West) finished with 23 digs. Ray had four total blocks in the contest.
Lindenwood was held to a .108 hitting percentage with 23 kills against 12 errors in 102 chances and was led by Madilyn Dement and Audrey Weber with six kills apiece. Allie Otten had 19 assists and Nyah Wilson and Jessie Seidel finished with 12 digs apiece.
The Flyers conclude their three-match homestand on Tuesday (Oct. 5) hosting Illinois Springfield at 7 p.m.
