SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. – Lewis University's men's basketball team fell to Lake Superior State 88-67 on Saturday (Nov. 27) at the James Norris Center in Sault Ste. Marie, Mich.
The Flyers (0-5) fell behind by 12 to begin the game but cut it to eight on layup by
Marquise Jackson (Macon, Ga./Windsor Academy) with 8:43 remaining in the half. That would be the closest they got though as the Lakers finished the half on a 20-6 run to take a 45-23 lead into the locker room at halftime.
LSSU (4-0) extended its lead to 30 nearly halfway through the second half and were still ahead by 28 with 2:12 to play when Lewis scored the final seven points of the contest for the final margin.
The Flyers shot 47.3 percent (26-for-55) for the contest including nearly 60 percent in the second half. They were 7-of-17 from three and shot 57 percent (8-for-14) at the foul line. Lewis did have 20 assists in the contest led by
Austin Boucher (Fort Wayne, Ind./Fort Wayne North Side) with seven.
Bruno Williams (Milwaukee, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) led the way with 14 points while Jackson added 10.
The Lakers shot 53.4 percent (31-for-58) from the floor for the game including 13-of-28 from three and shot 81 percent at the charity stripe (13-for-16). They outrebounded the Flyers 30-26 and had 25 assists in the contest. Malek Adams finished with a game-high 17 points to lead four LSSU players in double figures in scoring. He was joined by Caden Ebeling with 14 points while C.J. Robinson and Xander Okerlund finished with 13 and 10 points respectively.
Lewis is back at home on Thursday (Dec. 2) hosting Indianapolis in the conference opener for both teams at Neil Carey Arena at 7:30 p.m.
