SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The Lewis University women's basketball team fell to No. 4 Drury 100-57 Saturday (Feb. 20) in a Great Lakes Valley Conference contest at O'Reilly Family Event Center. The Panthers move to 14-1 on the season overall, 14-1 in the GLVC, while the Flyers fall to 11-8 overall and in the GLVC.
Drury jumped out of the gates quickly with a 14-4 advantage in the first 4:16 seconds of the game. Lewis cut the deficit to seven points at 16-9 on a
Jenna Badali (Oak Lawn, Ill./Mother McAuley) three-pointer, but Drury responded with a 10-2 run to take a 26-11 lead.
Grace Hilber (Sun Prairie, Wis./Sun Prairie) ended the scoring for the quarter with a three-pointer to make it a 26-14 deficit after one quarter.
The Panthers extended their lead to 35-16 in the second quarter before the Flyers answered with five straight points thanks to a three-point play from Badali and a basket from
Lily Courier (LaGrange, Ill./Lyons Township). Drury held a 51-33 lead at the half.
A Hilber basket midway through the third quarter kept the Flyers within striking distance at 63-44, but the Panthers pulled away with an 11-0 run and led 75-45 after three quarters.
Badali led the Flyers with 15 points, while
Lindsay Harrison (Yorkville, Ill./Yorkville) scored 11 points and grabbed 11 rebounds.
Stephanie Hart (Geneva, Ill./Geneva) added four assists.
The Flyers shot 37.3 percent (22-of-59) from the field, while Drury shot 62.3 percent (38-of-61), including 53.3 percent (8-of-15) from three-point range. Drury held a 35-28 rebounding edge.
Lewis returns home Thursday (Feb. 25) to face Missouri S&T at Neil Carey Arena for a 5:30 p.m. tip.
