ST. CHARLES, Mo. – Lewis University's women's lacrosse team dropped its season finale at second ranked Lindenwood 18-4 on Saturday at Hunter Stadium in St. Charles, Mo.
Paige Bracey (Apex, N.C./Apex) led the way for the Flyers scoring two goals on three shots while
Alyson Jines (Temecula, Calif./Temecula Valley High School) added a goal and an assist and
Paige Zahler (Verona, Wis./Verona) had a goal as well.
The Lions (12-0, 7-0) GLVC scored the first eight goals of the contest but Lewis got on the board midway through the opening stanza on Bracey's 12th goal of the season which was an unassisted goal.
Lindenwood added another goal to regain its eight-goal lead but Jines scored at the 10:19 mark to cut the deficit back to seven.
The Lions added three more goals in the final seven-plus minutes of the opening half to take a 12-2 lead into the intermission.
Lindenwood tacked on six goals in the first 20-plus minutes of the second to extend its lead to 18-2.
Lewis got back-to-back goals from Zahler and Bracey for the final goals of the contest.
The Lions had a 31-21 advantage in shots in the contest including 27-13 in shots on goal. They scooped up 17 ground balls and won 10 draw controls while the Flyers won 13 draw controls and scooped up 13 ground balls.
Zahler won four draw controls for Lewis while Jines scooped up three ground balls.
The Flyers finish their season with a record of 4-8, 2-5 GLVC.
