ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – Lewis University's men's tennis team fell to Missouri-St. Louis, 4-0 in the opening round of the GLVC Tournament on Friday afternoon at the Jack Oremus Tennis Complex in Romeoville, Ill.
The Tritons (7-7) won the opening point of the match winning the first two doubles contests. Vitor Monteiro and Raphael Kerndl defeated
Jonathan Maghirang (Woodridge, Ill./) and
Daniel Sowa (Cary, Ill./Cary-Grove) 6-1 at No. 3 doubles and Marcos Nava and Jose Mayorga beat
Oskar Lusti (Tallinn, Estonia/) and
Pedja Trifunovic (Aleksandrovac, Serbia/) 6-3 at No. 2 doubles.
UMSL won the first three singles matches to clinch the match. Kerndl defeated
Jeremy Charles (Grenada/Cedar International School) 6-0, 6-0 at No. 6 singles, Mayorga beat Sowa 6-2, 6-1 and Ben-Hur Kasprzak defeated
Juan Martin Ramirez Mejia (Medellin, Colombia) 6-2, 6-1 at No. 1 singles.
The Flyers finish their season with a record of 9-7.
