ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – Lewis University's women's tennis team fell to No. 13 Southwest Baptist, 5-0 in the opening round of the GLVC Tournament on Friday morning at the Jack Oremus Tennis Complex in Romeoville, Ill.
The Bearcats (17-5) won the opening point of the match taking the first two doubles contests. Lola Cincunegui and Diana Cabrera defeated
Grace Sueflohn (Delafield, Wis./KM Global Charter School) and
Jovana Vujanic (Elk Grove Village, Ill./Elk Grove) 6-0 at No. 3 doubles, Catarina Zhing and Elsa Pascual beat
Joie Reisch (La Grange Highlands, Ill./Lyons Township) and
Sophie Davis (Mokena, Ill./Providence Catholic) 6-2 at No. 2 doubles.
SBU won four of the six singles matches with two matches unfinished to clinch the match. Constanca Crespo defeated Vujanic 6-4, 6-1 at No. 3 singles, Pascual beat Sueflohn 6-1, 6-2 at No. 5 singles, Cincunegui defeated Davis 7-5, 6-1 and Dona Abohabaga beat
Rita Pedroso (Porto, Portugal/Escola Secundaria Garcia de Orta) 6-2, 6-3 at No. 1 singles.
The Flyers finish their season with a record of 8-6.
