HAMMOND, Ind. - The Lewis University women's volleyball ended the Midwest Region Crossover Tournament in a huge way as the Flyers defeated the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference leader Ferris State, 3-0, at the Hammond Sportsplex Saturday. With the victory on Saturday, Lewis improved to 3-0 in the tournament with wins against Hillsdale, Grand Valley State and Ferris State.

SET BREAKDOWN
FIRST SET:Â Lewis 31, Ferris State 29
- Lewis scored the first three points of the first set after a kill by Ray before Ferris State responded with three of their own.
- Both teams would each go on rallies which made lead changes.
- Ferris State went up 19-17 then the Flyers would score five in a row to grab an 22-19 advantage after a kill by Van Loo.
- Both teams would trade leads back and forth then at 29-all, Lewis won the final two points of the set to win 31-29.
SECOND SET:Â Lewis 25, Ferris State 23
- The Bulldogs were ahead 4-2 early in the second set before Lewis rallied for five straight points to make it a 7-4 lead for the Flyers.
- FSU responded right away to tie the set at 7 a piece.
- Two kills by Van Loo and Ray gave the Flyers a 15-12 lead midway through the second set.
- The Flyers led 20-17 then Ferris State rallied off four straight points for a 21-20 lead.
- Lewis was able to go on a 5-2 run to win the second set.
THIRD SET: Lewis 26, Ferris State 24
- Both teams would go back and forth in the third set and respond each others run.
- Ferris State would go up 12-10 then Lewis responded with three straight off a kill by Ray and back-to-back kills by Schlechte.
- The Bulldogs grabbed another lead, this time at 22-19 late in the third set.
- The Flyers responded with five a row after a service ace by Andrea Zeiser (Eureka, Mo./Eureka) made it 23-22.
- Lewis clinched the victory after back-to-back kills by Schlechte and Van Loo.

- Lewis will be back in action Friday, October 21 and resume Great Lakes Valley Conference play to take on Rockhurst University on the road starting at 6 p.m. CT.
