EAST PEORIA, Ill. -- The No. 4 seed Lewis women's volleyball team defeated the No. 3 seed Rockhurst, 3-1, to capture the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament Championship, at Eastside Centre Saturday (Nov. 12).

SET BREAKDOWN
FIRST SET: Rockhurst 25, Lewis 21
- The first set started with both teams scoring four points in a row which made it 4-all.
- Lewis scored three in a row which was started by a kill by Taki.
- Rockhurst rallied for five straight points after it was tied at 8-8.
- The Hawks led 19-11 late in the set before Lewis looked for another rally scoring seven straight after two straight kills from Van Loo made it 19-18 RU.
- Stefanski picked up a kill to make it 23-21 Rockhurst then the Hawks picked up two straight to win the set 25-21.
SECOND SET: Lewis 25, Rockhurst 16
- Lewis and Rockhurst both jumped out to five points each to start the second set before the Flyers scored three straight to make it 8-5.
- Lewis led 11-9 then rallied off five straight points capped off by a kill by Schlechte.
- Rockhurst made it close and cut it down to 19-15 in favor of the Flyers.
- It was 21-16 Lewis then the Flyers scored four straight points to win the second set which was ended by a block by Taki and Schlechte.
THIRD SET: Lewis 25, Rockhurst 18
- Both teams were close to start the third set with Lewis holding a slight advantage.
- The Flyers went up 12-9 after a kill by Ray then Rockhurst tied it back up at 12-all.
- Both teams were knotted up at 14-14 then Lewis scored five straight which was started by a kill from Ray.
- Stenman won the third set for the Flyers to give Lewis a 2-1 lead after recording a kill.
FOURTH SET: Lewis 25, Rockhurst 16
- Rockhurst started the fourth set with the first three points then held onto an early lead.
- Lewis responded and tied the match at 8-8 after a block by Stefanski and Taki.
- The Hawks regained the lead at 12-10 before the Flyers scored five straight to make it 15-12.
- The score was 21-16 late in the fourth set then Lewis won the match after winning the last four points which was capped off by a kill from Van Loo.
Final Score: Lewis 3, Rockhurst 1
