ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – Lewis University men's basketball team notched its second win at home this season after a 79-66 victory over Wayne State University on Tuesday evening at Neil Carey Arena. The Flyers, who at one point in the second half were leading by 25, cruised to the win as they shot 55.4 percent from the field.

SUMMARY
Lewis and Wayne State traded baskets throughout the first 10 minutes of the game before Carmelo Harris and Kylin Grant made back-to-back 3-pointers to give the Warriors a six-point lead with 9:32 left in the first half, which turned out to be the largest lead Wayne State would notch in this contest.
The Flyers made three straight made layups, two by Cem Kirciman (Bursa, Turkey/Wisconsin-Green Bay) and one by Anthony Sayles Jr. (Evanston, Ill./Norte Dame Prep) gave Lewis a 23-21 lead with 5:43 remaining in the first half. Lewis ended the half on an 8-0 run, capped by a Vanderheydt 3-pointer and a Hill layup in the final 40 seconds and the Flyers led 33-25 at the break.
The Flyers shot 14-of-28 (50 percent) from the field in the first half.
To start the second half, Frericks made a layup that gave Lewis a double-digit lead that the Flyer did not surrender. Hill canned a midrange pull up jump shot and Ford nailed an open 3-pointer to extend the Flyers lead to 17 with 13:05 left to go.
Hill and Sayles made back-to-back shots in the paint moments later to give Lewis a 21-point lead which was followed by two jump shots in transition from Ford and Colin Kenney (Michigan City, Ind./Furman) and the Flyers had their largest lead of 25 for the game. Wayne State was able to cut the lead to 13 before Hill came up with two consecutive steals that lead to two more transition layups.
Lewis shot 31-for-56 (55.4 percent) from the field for the game.
