HAMMOND, Ind. -- The Lewis University women's basketball team suffered a setback against Purdue Northwest, 78-69, at the Fitness and Recreation Center in Hammond, Ind., in a non-conference matchup, Tuesday (Nov. 22).

SUMMARY
Both teams traded points early on in the first period before Lewis jumped out to a 13-8 lead after a three-pointer by Schmidt. PNW responded with a three to make it 13-11 in favor of Lewis after one.
Lewis scored five unanswered to start the second quarter after a layup by Badali and Hart converted on a three-point play which made it 18-11 in favor of the Flyers. The Pride bounced back and went on a 12-3 run the next four minutes to grab a 23-21 lead.
Hart was able to have the response to tie the contest at 23-all but PNW went back ahead. Purdue Northwest went up 32-27 at the halftime break.
Lily Courier (LaGrange, Ill./Lyons Township) made back-to-back layups to start the second half to cut the deficit down to one (32-31) but PNW bounced back and scored six unanswered to make it 38-31. Hilber connected on a three but then the Pride scored nine unanswered points to grab a 46-34 lead.
Hilber cut it back down to seven (50-43) after knocking one down from behind the arc but the Pride had the answer. PNW led 54-47 after the third quarter after Hilber made a basket late for the Flyers.
Lewis cut it back down to five points (56-51) but PNW outscored the Flyers 10-2 the next five minutes before Taylor Gugliuzza (New Lenox, Ill./Lincoln-Way West) knocked down a three-pointer to end the drought. Moments later, Hilber was able to make it as close as four with under two minutes left but that was the closest Lewis got.
PNW ended up winning the contest 78-69.
