ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - The Lewis University women's basketball team lost for the first time in Great Lakes Valley Conference play Thursday (Dec. 1), falling 71-65 to Truman St. at Neil Carey Arena.
Grace Hilber (Sun Prairie, Wis./Sun Prairie) had 15 points, seven rebounds and four steals to lead the Flyers.

SUMMARY
The Bulldogs jumped out to an 11-4 advantage at the 5:39 mark in the first quarter, but back-to-back baskets by Schmidt stopped the run and pulled the Flyers to within three.
Truman answered with a pair of three-pointers to extend the lead to nine points, but six straight points to finish the quarter for Lewis made it a 19-16 Truman lead after the first quarter.
The Flyers kept the momentum going to start the second quarter with the first eight points, making it a 14-0 run total to take a 24-19 lead as Badali converted a conventional three-point play, Schmidt hit a three-pointer and Courier finished the run with a jumper.
Truman came back to tie the game at 24-24, but a 13-2 Flyer run gave them their biggest lead at 37-26 as Hilber tallied five points and
Taylor Gugliuzza (New Lenox, Ill./Lincoln-Way West) had four points in the run. The Flyers went on to lead 37-30 at the half.
The Bulldogs got to within one point at 42-41 with 5:38 left in the third quarter, but the Flyers went on an 11-0 run to take a 53-41 lead with 2:01 left behind four points each from Badali and Hilber and a three-pointer from Schmidt.
Lewis would extend its lead to 13 points at 59-46 after three quarters on a three-pointer by Badali with 12 seconds left.
Truman opened the fourth quarter with the first 18 points as the first Flyer point came on a free throw by Schmidt with 1:17 left in the game to make it 64-60 Bulldogs and the Bulldogs were able to hold on for the win with 7-of-8 free throws down the stretch.
