ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced on Thursday (Feb. 17) that Lewis University senior Connor Niego (Western Springs, Ill./Lyons Township) has been named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Men's Basketball Team for District Four.

Niego, a political science major, checks in with a 3.55 cumulative grade point average. He is now eligible for CoSIDA Academic All-American honors which will be announced on Tuesday (March 15). Niego is the first Flyer to be named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District team since Max Strus in 2016.

He currently leads the team in scoring at 14.8 points per game, rebounding with 7.1 per contest and steals with 27. Niego has been named the GLVC's Player of the Week twice this season on Dec. 6 and Dec. 27, 2021.

He has scored in double figures in 16 out of 19 games this season and has scored at least 20 in a game five times highlighted by a 29-point performance at Truman State on January 31. Niego has recorded four double-doubles this season including back-to-back against Indianapolis (Dec. 2) and at McKendree (Dec. 4).

He is currently shooting 52.3 percent (104-for-199) from the floor and has connected on 24 of his 56 attempts from three (42.9 percent).

The Flyers begin a three-game homestand on Thursday (Feb. 17) hosting Drury at 7:30 p.m.
