ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – Lewis University's women's lacrosse team dropped its season finale to seventh ranked Lindenwood 23-7 at Lewis Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
The Lions (14-3, 6-1 GLVC) jumped out to the early lead scoring the first four goals of the contest but the Flyers scored three of the next four goals to cut the deficit to 5-3 with 0:41 remaining in the opening stanza.
Paige Bracey (Apex, N.C./Apex),
Lindsey Traub (Indianapolis, Ind./Bishop Chatard High School) and
Sydney Able (Aurora, Colo./Regis Jesuit) each scored for Lewis. Lindenwood extended its lead to 6-3 with a goal with 0:10 left in the quarter.
The Lions dominated the second quarter as they outscored Lewis 8-2 in the frame.
Carlie Serritella (Chicago, Ill./Resurrection) scored her 16th and 17th goals of the season for the Flyers.
Lindenwood scored four of the five goals in the third period and then outscored Lewis 5-1 in the final stanza for the final margin.
The Flyers finished with 18 shots in the contest and put 13 of those on goal. Traub and Serritella scored two goals apiece for Lewis while Bracey, Able and
Skylar Lucich (Mundelein, Ill./Mundelein) had one each.
Emily Meredith (Cranberry Township, Pa./Seneca Valley) won six draw controls while Serritella, Meredith,
Jamie Rieger (Park Ridge, Ill./Maine South) and
Brigid Fornek (Lawrenceville, Ga./Grayson) scooped up two ground balls each.
Lewis finishes its season with a record of 4-10 and 2-5 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference.
