ST. CHARLES, Mo. – Lewis University's baseball team's 2022 season came to an end on Sunday as it fell to Quincy 9-4 in the semifinal round of the Great Lakes Valley Conference tournament at the Lou Brock Sports Complex in St. Charles, Mo.

Quincy (33-21) jumped out to the early lead scoring three runs in the second inning. Nolan Wosman hit a two-run homer to left then later in the inning Brock Boynton singled to center scoring Adam Lewis.

The Flyers got on the board in the sixth. Kevin Barry (Bartlett, Ill./South Elgin) doubled with two out and then Jason Krol (Chicago, Ill./St. Laurence) singled to short. Barry scored on Gino D'Alessio's throwing error.

The Hawks added to their lead with two runs in both the sixth and seventh innings. Two sacrifice flies in the sixth made it 5-1 and then in the seventh an RBI single from Joe Roscetti and an RBI double from Luke Napleton made it 7-1.

Lewis cut Quincy's lead in half with three runs in the eighth inning and brought the tying run to the plate. Michael Alt (Kimberly, Wis./Kimberly) singled to short to drive in Thomas Fox (Norfolk, Va./Norfolk Christian) with the first run of the inning and then Cherokee Lebeau (Shorewood, Ill./Minooka) singled down the right field line to drive in Barry and Krol.

The Hawks added a pair of insurance runs in their half of the eighth. Roscetti drove in two with a single to center.

The Flyers saw their first two hitters reach in the ninth but a strikeout and a double play ended the game.

Lewis had nine hits in the contest and was led by Krol with three while Alt added two and Fox, Barry, Lebeau and Cain Headrick (Custer Park, Ill./Providence Catholic) had one each. Chad Cwik (Hometown, Ill./Oak Lawn) took the loss allowing three runs, two earned, on three hits with two walks in 1.2 innings pitched.
