HONOLULU – The No. 21 ranked Lewis University women's volleyball team split day two of the Magic Hawai'i Island Classic against No. 25 Chaminade and No. 7 California State-San Bernardino at the Hawai'i Convention Center. The Flyers defeated the Silverswords in three sets, 25-13, 25-23, 25-17; then dropped their match against the Yotes in four, 22-25, 25-22, 25-22, 25-22.

FIRST SET: No. 21 Lewis 25, No. 25 Chaminade 13
- Chaminade went ahead early 3-0 before Lewis went on a 6-1 rally to pull ahead 7-4 capped off by a kill by Natalie Stefanski (Plainfield, Ill./Joliet West).
- The Silverswords rallied and tied it at 7-all.
- Later in the set, Lewis went up 19-11 after a service ace from Megan Schlechte (Strasburg, Ill./Stewardson-Strasburg) (Strasburg, Ill./Stewardson-Strasburg).
- The Flyers scored the last four points of the opening set to win 25-13 capped off by a kill by Schlechte.
SECOND SET: No. 21 Lewis 25, No. 25 Chaminade 23
- Chaminade also led early in the second set, this time going on an 5-0 advantage to start.
- Lewis bounced back for six straight points to take a 6-5 lead after back-to-back blocks by Bella Ray (Plainfield, Ill./Joliet Catholic).
- Both teams went back-and-forth for most of the second set until it was 21-20.
- The Silverswords scored three points in a row to grab a 23-21 advantage late in the second set.
- The Flyers rallied for four straight points capped off by a block by Juliana Van Loo (Burbank, Calif./John Burroughs) and Farah Taki (North Aurora, Ill./West Aurora) to win the second set 25-23.
THIRD SET: No. 21 Lewis 25, No. 25 Chaminade 17
- The Silverswords went out to an early 5-2 advantage in the third set before the Flyers rallied after Ray recorded back-to-back service aces to give Lewis a 7-6 lead.
- Chaminade quickly regrabbed the lead 8-7 but that would but the last time the Silverswords would own the lead as the Flyers had the advantage the rest of the way.
- The closest the set got was 18-16 in favor of Lewis but the Flyers put the match away after going on a 7-1 scoring advantage the rest of the way.

FIRST SET: No. 21 Lewis 25, No. 7 California State 22
- Both teams traded leads early in the first set, Van Loo picked up a kill to cut it down to 12-10.
- California State rallied for five in a row to go up 17-10 midway through the first set.
- Lewis bounced back and cut it down to 22-18 in favor of the Yotes.
- The Flyers rallied for seven straight points after Lauren Stenman (Maplewood, Minn./North St. Paul) started it off with a kill then ended with Ray recording a kill to win the first set 25-22.
SECOND SET: No. 7 California State 25, No. 21 Lewis 22
- Lewis went ahead 4-1 in the second set after a kill by Stefanski.
- The Flyers would hold a small margin of lead early in the match and made it 14-12 after a kill from Ray.
- The Yotes rallied for four straight points to grab a 16-14 lead in the second set.
- Back-to-back kills by Van Loo gave Lewis a 20-18 lead.
- This time it was California State who rallied late by scoring four in a row to win the second set, 25-22, to tie the match at 1-1.
THIRD SET: No. 7 California State 25, No. 21 Lewis 22
- Both teams traded leads early in the third set.
- The Yotes used an 11-3 advantage midway through the third to grab a 19-11 lead.
- Ray looked to get the Flyers back in the set after recording a kill.
- California State went up as much as 23-13 but the Flyers did not give in as Lewis scored four in a row.
- The Yotes then had set point at 24-17 then Lewis had one last fight in them, rallying for five in a row capped off with a kill from Mikah Freppon (Cold Spring, Ky./Newport Central Catholic) until California State scored the last point to win the third set.
FOURTH SET: No. 7 California State 25, No. 21 Lewis 22
- California State scored the first four points of the fourth set.
- The Flyers rallied to tie the match at 6-all after back-to-back kills by Stenman and Ray.
- The Yotes would have the advantage most of the way in the fourth set.
- Lewis was able to tie the match at 21-21 after a kill by Taki and a Yotes miscue.
- California State used a 4-1 advantage the rest of the way to win the set 25-22 and the match 3-1.
FINAL SCORE: No. 7 California State 3, No. 21 Lewis 1

The No. 21 Lewis University Flyers will be back in action Friday, September 2 as the Flyers compete in the Colorado Premier Challenge taking on Western Washington at noon CT and Concordia-St. Paul at 2:30 p.m. CT.
