Women’s Soccer Narrowly Defeated by Indianapolis Sunday

ROMEOVILLE, Ill. -- The Lewis University women's soccer team dropped a Great Lakes Valley Conference matchup to the University of Indianapolis, 1-0, at Lewis Stadium Sunday (Sept. 25).

HALF BREAKDOWN
First Half: Indianapolis 1, Lewis 0
  • Cameron Sengstock (Crystal Lake, Ill./Crystal Lake South) tried to get the Flyers on the board in the eighth minute but her shot was off target.
  • A few minutes later, Indianapolis tried to get the scoring going but Nielsen was right there with the save.
  • Mariana Pinto (Rockford, Ill./Guilford) looked to break the scoreless tie in the 12th minute but Indianapolis's goalie saved it.
  • Not long later, the Greyhounds were on the scoreboard after finding the back of the net in the 13th minute to make it 1-0.
  • Moments later in the 25th minute, Pinto tried to tie it at 1-all but her shot was off target.
  • The Greyhounds tried to double their lead but Nielsen was right there again with the stop.
  • Alex Dennis (Tinley Park, Ill./Victor J. Andrew) tried to knot it up in the 30th minute but her shot was saved.
  • The Flyers had a few chances before halftime as Grace Devaux's shot was off target and Kenedi Jones (Cary, Ill./Cary-Grove) attempt was saved.
Second Half: Indianapolis 0, Lewis 0
  • Lewis tried to tie it up early in the second half as Olivia Zediker (Rockford, Ill./Guilford) had a shot attempt in the 48th minute but the keeper saved it.
  • Not even a minute later, Faith Lewis (Corunna, Ind./DeKalb) tried again in the 49th minute but it was off target.
  • Both teams would record shot attempts but they would be off target for the 32 minutes.
  • The Greyhounds looked to double their lead in the 83rd minute but Nielsen saved the ball.
