Lewis Men’s Basketball Drops Home Game to University of Indianapolis Saturday

ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – The Lewis University men's basketball team dropped a Great Lakes Valley Conference contest to University of Indianapolis, 81-70, on Saturday, January 28.

SUMMARY
University of Indianapolis jumped out to an early 12-4 lead and posted four blocks in the opening four minutes of the game. Lewis trailed by double-digits for the next three minutes before Zrnic made back-to-back layups to cut the deficit to seven.
 
The Greyhounds were able to extend their lead back to double digits with help from Jesse Bingham making two consecutive point blank layups.
 
Trailing by 13 to start the second half, Lewis canned two 3-pointers in the first minute of play. The Flyers cut into the lead again before the Greyhounds scored seven straight in a three minute span. Vanderheydt put an end to the scoring drought with a layup with 10:59 remaining in the game.
 
Unfortunately for the Flyers, every time they made a run, Indy was able to answer back. The Greyhounds held on the rest of the way with their double digit lead and won the game.
 
Lewis shot 42.6 percent (26-of-61) from the field and 26.1 percent (6-for-23) from behind the arc in the loss. As for the University of Indianapolis, they shot 31-of-59 (52.5 percent) from the field and 11-for-30 (36.7 percent) from behind the 3-point line. Lewis has now its third game at home in the month of January.

Lewis will be back in action Thursday, February 2 as the Flyers host Quincy University at 7:30 p.m. inside Neil Carey Arena.
