ROMEOVILLE, Ill. -- The No. 16 Lewis University women's volleyball team defeated McKendree 3-1 at Neil Carey Arena Friday (October 6). Five Lewis players recorded 10+ kills and four had 10+ digs including
Lauren Stenman (Maplewood, Minn./North St. Paul) who recorded a double-double with 11 kills and 44 assists.

SET BREAKDOWN vs. McKendree
Set 1: McKendree 25, Lewis 22
Lewis scored the first two points of the match after back-to-back kills from Van Loo and Schlechte. McKendree responded with four straight points to grab a 4-2 lead.
The Flyers bounced back to tie before the set went back-and-forth before the Bearcats recorded two straight points for a 16-14 lead and they would not give up the lead the rest of the set. Lewis was able to cut it down to 22-20 McKendree after a kill from Van Loo.
McKendree ended up winning the first set 25-22.
Set 2: Lewis 25, McKendree 18
McKendree jumped out to an early 5-2 lead in the second and looked to go up 2-0, but Lewis had other plans. Lewis responded with five straight points which was capped off by a kill from Shroba to make it 7-5.
The Flyers would not give up the lead the rest of the set and build upon its lead throughout the set. Lewis stretched out its lead to 20-13 after a kill from Stenman.
McKendree tried to crawl back into the set but Lewis had the upper hand and was able to win the second set 25-18.
Set 3: Lewis 25, McKendree 18
Lewis jumped out to an early 4-1 lead in the third set after a service ace by Gubera. McKendree fought back and made it a one-point game after outscoring the Flyers 4-2.
Moments later, Shroba recorded a kill which gave Lewis a 13-7 lead midway through the set before the Bearcats rallied for four straight points to make it a two-point set. Lewis had the answer with a 5-1 rally of their own to make it 19-13.
The Bearcats tried to crawl back into the set but Lewis had the upper hand and took the third set 25-18 for a 2-1 lead.
Set 4: Lewis 25, McKendree 19
Both teams each scored two points to start the fourth set before Lewis scored the next three after a block from Van Loo and Ray. The Flyers built on its lead and went up 9-4 after a kill from Schlechte.
McKendree responded with four straight points to cut the deficit down to one but the Flyers never gave up the lead nor was it tied the rest of the way. Schlechte put Lewis ahead 22-16 after recording a kill but the Bearcats tried for one last push after scoring three straight to make it 22-19.
The Flyers were able to regroup and score three straight of their own to win the fourth set 25-19 which won them the match 3-1.
