QUINCY, Ill. -- The Lewis University women's volleyball team rallied from down 2-1 and won two straight sets to defeat Quincy 3-2 Saturday (Nov. 11).

SET BREAKDOWN
Set 1: Quincy 25, Lewis 23
Lewis started the contest with the first two points before Quincy rallied for five straight points. The Flyers were able to respond with six out of the next eight points after an ace from Gubera make it 8-7.
Both teams would trade points back-and-forth before the Hawks grabbed a 16-13 advantage midway through the opening set. Lewis bounced back and scored four points in a row capped off by a block from Ray and Alvey which gave the Flyers a 17-16 lead.
Quincy used another rally to pull ahead 23-19 and would not give up the lead. Van Loo cut it down to 23-22 with a kill but the Hawks put the Flyers away.
Set 2: Lewis 25, Quincy 22
Lewis jumped out to an early 4-3 lead after a kill from Alvey. Quincy scored five unanswered points to grab a 8-4 lead in the early stages of the second set.
The Flyers were able to rally and get three straight kills from Van Loo to tie the second set at 14-14. Both teams traded seven points each to make it 21-21.
Lewis grabbed a 23-21 lead after a kill from Schlechte and an attack error from Schlechte. The Hawks scored the next point before the Flyers scored two straight to win 25-22 to tie it at 1-1.
Set 3: Quincy 25, Lewis 22
Lewis jumped out to an early 5-1 lead after a block from Ray and Van Loo. Quincy responded with three straight to pull within one.
Moments later, QU grabbed a 10-9 lead to switch momentum over to their side. Later in that set, the Hawks led 17-14 before the Flyers scored five straight points including four straight kills from Schlechte to make it 19-17.
Lewis led 20-18 late in the third set before the Hawks rallied for four straight for a 22-20 lead. O'Neill got it down to 23-22 after recording a kill but Quincy scored back-to-back points to win the set.
Set 4: Lewis 25, Quincy 23
Lewis led 5-2 early in the fourth set after a kill from Hickey and the Flyers never gave up the lead in the set. Quincy cut it down to one before the Flyers scored three straight capped off by a block from Schlechte and
Sarah Newberry (Fairfield, Ohio/Stephen T Badin).
Later in the second set, Schlechte recorded a kill to extend the Flyers lead to 18-15. Quincy responded and it tied the set at 21-21 then 22-22.
Alvey forced set point after recording a kill and a service ace but Quincy picked up the next point. Schlechte forced the fifth set after recording a kill.
Set 5: Lewis 15, Quincy 11
Lewis carried its momentum from the fourth set and scored the first four points of the fifth. Quincy got the next point before the Flyers got back-to-back kills from Alvey and Ray.
Moments later, Quincy cut it down to two (9-7) late in the fifth set but that was the closest the Hawks got. Van Loo and Alvey recorded the last two points for the Flyers after the duo recorded kills.
