SUMMARY
The two teams went back-and-forth early in the game before a 12-0 run from the Flyers put them ahead 19-7 with 3:33 left in the first quarter. Hilber scored seven points during the run. Lewis led 19-12 after one quarter.
The Pride got to within five right away in the second quarter, but Lewis came back with a 9-1 run to pull ahead 28-15 with 6:17 left in the half behind five points from Hilber and four from
Cierra McNamee (Moline, Ill.).
Lewis continued the run from there, outscoring Purdue Northwest 14-1 to finish the half and take a 42-19 lead into the break. Badali and Gugliuzza had four points each during the run.
Purdue Northwest cut into the deficit in the first 3:30 of the third quarter, making it a 44-28 game. A basket by Schmidt and a pair of free throws from Badali pushed the lead back to 20. The lead was cut back to 15 before a 12-4 run to end the half made it 62-39 Flyers after three quarters.
The Pride scored the first 10 points of the fourth quarter before a
Lily Courier (LaGrange, Ill./Lyons Township) basket halted the run. The lead remained in double digits until the final minute of the contest.
