SUMMARY
The game started with back-and-forth runs, as Drury went up 7-0 before Lewis pushed back with 11 consecutive points. From there, the teams traded baskets as the Panthers crept back to even the score.
At the end of the first quarter, it was tied at 19-19 as Drury had a big advantage from the three-point line, going 3/6 while the Flyers were 0/5, but Lewis was 7/7 at the free-throw line to 0-2 for the Panthers.
Lewis got hot in the second quarter, scoring on four of its first five possessions including a pair of threes to take a 29-24 lead. Later in the frame, the Flyers scored second-chance points on three consecutive possessions to push the advantage to 36-28.
Drury got back to within four, but Lewis scored seven of the last nine points in the first half to go to the locker room with a 45-36 lead. The Flyers shot 11/19 (.579) in the second quarter, and went 4/7 (.571) from deep.
Tay. Gugliuzza scored the first six points of the second half for Lewis as the lead hit double-digits for the first time at the 6:42 mark of the third. The gap got as large as 13 points after a Tar. Gugliuzza three-pointer with 3:10 left in the frame.
A quick 6-0 run for the Panthers cut its deficit to six points, 61-55, heading to the fourth quarter. In the final frame, both offenses went cold, shooting under 30% from the field.
The Flyers started the scoring in the fourth with a three-point play by Badali, but Drury pushed back with a 6-0 burst that cut the Lewis lead to three. After the Flyers built the advantage back to seven, a deep ball from the Panthers trimmed it right back down with 2:43 to play.
Another three-pointer for Drury brought it to within one, but Hilber went 4/4 at the free-throw line in the final minute, and Lewis handed the Panthers its first loss of the season.
