ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - The Lewis University men's soccer team shut out Rockhurst, 4-0, Sunday in the Great Lakes Valley Conference Quarterfinal.

HALF BREAKDOWN
FIRST HALF: Lewis 1, Rockhurst 0
Rockhurst went on the attack early, with two shots in the first ten minutes, but one went wide and the other was saved by Doppelhofer. Both sides managed one shot over the next 15 minutes, with neither going on goal.
Then, at the 28:51 mark, the Flyers earned a penalty kick, and Johansen sent it bottom-left for the goal and the early lead.
At the 38:04 mark, Fernando Churin was given his second yellow card of the match for the Hawks, earning a red card and forcing Rockhurst to play the rest of the match with 10 players. The Hawks took two more shots the rest of the first half to one for Lewis, but none were on target.
SECOND HALF: Lewis 3, Rockhurst 0
Lewis built on its lead quickly in the second half, with Darlage striking at the 49:07 mark to make it 2-0. The senior received the ball in the box off of a pass from Asore and put it out of reach of the Hawks goalkeeper.
The Flyers recorded shots on goal in the 53rd and 57th minutes, but both were saved. Then, at the 58:00 mark, Holzer increased the Lewis lead to three goals as he took a pass from Henegar and buried a shot in the back of the net.
In the next nine minutes, the Flyers took six more shots, but couldn't get any past the Rockhurst goalie, with three saves and three shots going wide. Doppelhofer was busy again in the 71st, 79th and 80th minutes, making three big saves to keep the Hawks off the board.
Then, at the 86:12 mark, Asore made sure there was no doubt left in the match as he scored off a pass from Stampley to make it 4-0 Lewis.

Lewis men's soccer continues its quest for a GLVC Championship in the semifinals against No. 3-seed Indianapolis Friday (Nov. 10) at 5 p.m. CT at Corwin Clatt Stadium in East Peoria, Ill. The winner will advance to the GLVC Championship match Sunday (Nov. 12).
