CEDARVILLE, Ohio -- The Lewis University men's basketball team lost to host Cedarville, 94-87 at Callan Athletic Center Saturday (Dec. 16).

SUMMARY
Vanderheydt started the game with a three-pointer before Cedarville responded with seven straight points to make it 7-3. Lewis cut it down to one at 11-10 but the Yellowjackets scored 11 unanswered points the next three minutes for a 22-10 lead.
The Flyers were able to get back in the contest after seven straight points including five from Solomon made it 22-17 Cedarville with under nine minutes to play in the first half. The Yellowjackets had the response with back-to-back three pointers to extend the lead back out to double figures.
Lewis made it a seven-point game again after Kirciman connected on a layup. Later in the half, Cedarville jumped out to a 43-31 lead with two minutes left.
The Flyers closed out the first half with the last seven points including and an-one by Hill which made it 43-38 at the break.
Solomon started the second half on a high note for Lewis after scoring the first basket. Moments later, the Flyers cut it down to one after back-to-back baskets from
Ryan Renfro (Glen Ellyn, Ill./U.S. Military Prep) and Hill made it 48-47.
Cedarville had the answer going on a 18-6 spurt the next five minutes to put them ahead 66-53. Frericks tried to put the Flyers back in the game after scoring the next six points but the Yellowjackets pushed back.
The Yellowjackets went up by 15 with 7:32 remaining in the game before Lewis scored seven straight including a three by
Anthony Sayles Jr. (Evanston, Ill./Notre Dame Prep) to cut it back down to eight (77-69). After a response by Cedarville, the Flyers got back-to-back layups from Solomon and Kirciman to make it a six-point contest with 3:25 left.
It was already too late as Cedarville closed it out and won 94-87. Lewis shot 53 percent (30-57) as a team but the difference was the Yellowjackets made 13 threes after going 13-30.
