SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - The Lewis University men's basketball team fell to Drury 78-77 Saturday (Feb. 25) in a Great Lakes Valley Conference contest at the O'Reilly Family Event Center. In the season finale for the Flyers, it was their 10th loss by one possession on the season.

SUMMARY
The Flyers used a pair of early three-pointers to jump out to an 8-3 lead. A three-pointer by Sayles extended the lead to 17-11 with 12:53 remaining in the first half.
Three straight three-pointers from the Panthers gave the hosts their first lead of the game at 24-21 with 7:50 left in the half, but
Colin Kenney (Michigan City, Ind./Furman) came right back with a three-pointer to tie the game at 24-24.
Drury came back to take a 36-30 lead before a pair of three-pointers by Frericks and a three from Kenney finished off the half for the Flyers made it 39-36 Lewis at the half.
The game of runs continued in the second half as the Panthers scored the first nine points of the half before Lewis responded with the next six to tie the score at 45-45.
The two teams went back-and forth until Lewis scored six straight points to take the largest lead of the game at 64-57 with 5:13 left.
Lewis maintained its lead and grabbed a three-point advantage with 37 seconds left on a Hill layup, but a three-pointer by the Panthers tied the game with 24 seconds left. Lewis had a chance to win the game, but a Hill shot missed in the closing seconds, leading to overtime.
Behind five points from Sayles the Flyers built a seven-point advantage in overtime with 42 seconds left at 77-70. Drury converted a conventional three-point play, Lewis turned the ball over on the ensuing possession and a quick three-pointer made it 77-76 with 32 seconds left.
A missed Flyer free throw with 11 seconds left led to shot from the paint with .6 seconds left from the Panthers for the win. Lewis shot 55 percent (33-of-60) from the floor, while Drury was 48.3 percent (29-of-60). Both teams had 30 rebounds and 15 turnovers.
