ROSEMONT, Ill. -- The Lewis University softball team picked up its fourth straight sweep Wednesday (March 15) against Ferris State after defeating the Bulldogs 7-4 and 3-2 at The Ballpark at Rosemont.
Game 1: Lewis 7, Ferris State 3

SUMMARY
Jalyn Powell (Tolono, IL/Unity) started the scoring in the bottom of the first inning after connecting on a two-run home run to left center to give Lewis a 2-0 lead.
Ferris State responded the following inning and tied it with two runs in the second.
Two innings later, the Bulldogs took a 3-2 lead before Powell tied it at 3-3 in the bottom half of the inning.
Lewis went on and scored four in the bottom of the sixth inning to break the game open.
Gabi Nilles (North Aurora, IL/West Aurora) ripped a RBI single up the middle to make it 4-3,
Kristen Graham (Mapleton, IL/Illini Bluffs High School) got hit-by-pitch with the bases loaded, which made it 5-3 and
Sara Serena (Kankakee, IL/Kankakee) hit a two-run single for a 7-3 lead.
Serena (2-2) picked up the win in the circle, after allowing three earned runs, giving up seven hits, issuing two walks and striking out four in seven innings.
Game 2: Lewis 3, Ferris State 2 (9 innings)

SUMMARY
Serena started the scoring for the Flyers in the bottom of the first inning after hitting a RBI single to make it 1-0.
FS responded in the top of the sixth and tied it at 1-1. The Bulldogs would grab a 2-1 lead in the top of the eighth inning.
Lewis was able to tie it at 2-2 with a run of its own after
Payton Wuske (Frankfort, IL/Lincoln-Way East) ripped a RBI triple to right.
Carrie Anderson (Roscoe, IL/Hononegah Community) walked it off for the Flyers in the bottom of the ninth after hitting a RBI double which scored Megan Bontrager from third.
Garden (6-2) recorded the win she only gave up one hit and an unearned run and striking out four over five frames.

Lewis will have its Great Lakes Valley Conference opener Sunday, March 19 at 12 p.m. for a double-header against Maryville University.
