No. 19 Lewis Men's Lacrosse Falls to (RV) Alabama-Huntsville Saturday

ROMEOVILLE, Ill. -- The No. 19 Lewis University men's lacrosse team suffered a setback against (RV) Alabama-Huntsville 8-6 Saturday (March 18) at Lewis Stadium.

QUARTER BREAKDOWN
FIRST QUARTER: Lewis 3, Alabama-Huntsville 2
  • Speers opened up the scoring for Lewis two minutes in after receiving the ball from Andre to make it 1-0.
  • Alabama-Huntsville tied the contest at 1-1 with the next goal. 
  • Boyenko responded with two straight goals for Lewis to make it 3-1 and the second one came from Andre.
  • The Chargers closed out the opening quarter with a goal with 1:10 left to cut it down to one.
SECOND QUARTER: Alabama-Huntsville 1, Lewis 0
  •  UAH scored the lone goal in the second quarter with 13:12 left to tie the game at 3-3. 
THIRD QUARTER: Alabama-Huntsville 3, Lewis 2
  • The Chargers started the second half in the opening minutes after taking a 4-3 lead. 
  • Evan Clement (San Diego, CA/CCBC-Essex) tied the match at 4-4 after receiving the ball from Speers. 
  • Alabama-Huntsville responded with back-to-back goals to grab a 6-4 lead. 
  • Speers recorded his second goal of the contest to cut it down to a one goal deficit. 
FOURTH QUARTER: Alabama-Huntsville 2, Lewis 1
  • UAH picked up two insurance goals in the final period which extended its lead to 8-5.
  • Luke Schroeder (Plymouth, MN/Totino-Grace HS) scored his first goal of the contest with 1:05 left but it was too late as the Chargers won 8-6.
FINAL SCORE: Alabama-Huntsville 8, Lewis 6

Lewis will be back in action Saturday, March 25 as the Flyers host No. 9 Indianapolis to begin Great Lakes Valley Conference play at Lewis Stadium starting at 1 p.m.
